Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 14, 2026

1. Introduction

TeachDesk (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use the TeachDesk platform (“Service”).

By creating an account or using our Service you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you register we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. If you sign in with Google we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google's OAuth service — we never see your Google password.

2.2 Student & Class Data

You may enter data about your students (names, course enrollment, attendance records, test scores, fee records) as part of normal use. This data is stored securely and associated with your account only. We do not sell or share this data with any third party.

2.3 Usage & Technical Data

We automatically collect limited technical information such as your browser type, IP address, pages visited, and error logs. This helps us diagnose issues and improve the Service. We use industry-standard tools (e.g. Vercel Analytics) for this purpose.

2.4 Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To authenticate your identity and secure your account.
  • To send you important service-related notices (e.g. security alerts, policy updates).
  • To respond to your support requests.
  • To analyse aggregate, anonymised usage trends to improve features.

We will never sell your personal data or your students' data to third parties.

4. Data Sharing

We share data only with trusted sub-processors required to operate the Service (database hosting, email delivery, cloud infrastructure). Each sub-processor is bound by confidentiality obligations and processes data only as instructed. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect against fraud or abuse.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@teachdesk.app. We will complete deletion within 30 days, except where we are required to retain data for legal purposes.

6. Security

We employ industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication where offered.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for use by teachers and educational administrators who are 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction) directly. Student data you enter as a teacher is managed under your responsibility and your institution's applicable data protection obligations.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Request deletion of your personal data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@teachdesk.app.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date. Your continued use of the Service after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
